Aloha!  I’m Papa Papaya from Hawaii.

Fruit is the best treat for a rabbit (rabbits are called a "lapaki" in Hawaii) and I have listed a few of the best below!  Skip all human treats like cereals, nuts, breads, chocolate and grains like crackers, pasta or treats in the pet store full of dried corn, sugar, etc.

High fiber fruits are best and in small quantities as a treat.   Sugar can upset the micro-organism balance in the cecum so try these in limited quantities:

Apples (NOT the seeds – they are toxic)

Pears

Peaches

Papaya

Strawberries

Raspberries

Bananas and grapes (very limited amounts – they are very high in sugar)

Pineapple

Try apple branches to give your rabbits something they can really get their teeth into . . . they love chewing and apple branches are safe.   Many woods are toxic to rabbits so be careful!  Also, untreated willow baskets, and chew blocks from the pet store are okay, too!   There are timothy hay cubes and apple/timothy cubes available from Oxbow Hay and American Pet Diner for chewing.
